So this was a thing that Elizabeth May mentioned briefly when the latest Omnibus Budget was tabled a couple weeks ago.
The Constitution gives the federal government authority over “navigation and shipping” which means they also have control over “navigable waters”. Until now, this meant any body of water deep enough for a canoe to float. Obviously, this is a bit ridiculous, and means that basically every body of water in Canada was federally regulated.
So what do the Conservatives do? They trim that number down to a nice and orderly 97 lakes, 62 rivers and 3 oceans. Never mind that Manitoba alone has well over 1000 lakes.
Oh, and the worst/best part? Apparently 90% of the lakes still federally regulated (i.e. the lakes which will remain clean) are in Conservative-held ridings.
Notwithstanding that Conservatives tend to hold rural ridings more often than the other parties, there’s no way this isn’t a little fishy.

Making eye contact with a moose will never not be weird.
Especially when I’m lying in bed, reading, and a bull decides to graze in the side yard immediately next to my window.
